Other Side Productions and the world’s best chefs

Since 2010 we’ve been working with the Hugo’s group to produce videos at their hugely popular Pantry Cooking Show.

This has seen us working with household names from George Calombaris, Manu Feildel, Peter Evans, Guy Grossi, Frank Camorra and even three Michelin Star chef Marco Pierre White.

Each time you’re faced with the opportunity to film these culinary super stars is quite an experience. There is an element of catch 22 involved …You don’t want to get in the chefs way but at the same time you want to get the best shots possible and show the viewers exactly what is happening. Some chefs are happy to work with you, for example Manu is a fantastic chef to shoot. He loves to camera and it happy to work with the person behind it drawing you in and making you part of the theatre and the fun. However sometimes that can be a problem (a scar on one videographers head attests to that – a story for another time)

On the other hand a chef like Marco Pierre White is much more conservative and is more focused on the technical aspects of the experience. Pity the poor cameraman who gets in the way for you’re about to be introduced to a different side of the great man’s personality (another story for another time)

Filming these cooking shows was one of Other Side Productions first large scale jobs and continues to be one of the most exciting things we film, particularly considering food is a huge passion for us. From our side the videos have been a very successful part, the audience feels more included and we’ve had well over 100,000 views through a range of videos produced over the years as well plenty of fun experiences which make for plenty of good stories.
